– video productionsOn Saturday morning we were a little stressed, because back then we had a huge but empty stand, and we weren’t too sure if our concept would work out. But at 10 o’clock it was all good – Dai Aira Productions in full effect, they came up with a 3D version of their panel, putting cold beers next to the contact flyers to take away, while JD Productions had already started their paint job the night before, to have a stylish presentation. Also the youngsters of Pirate Productions started off the night before, cutting up loads of nice photos to stick them round their huge Pirate logo. As a highlight there was 4 zu 1 going off late afternoon with a sick freestyle session.Who was involved that day?Method Mag – with the whole crew like Adi, Marino, Esther…Absinthe Films – Vivid, Patrick Armbruster JD Pictures – Primevil, Marco Lutz, Nils BirkelandFilm Up – Nachwuchs Film Festival – Tobi von SajasPirate Productions – Flo, Basti & CrewSpirit Productions – Blind Bend, Patrick BaerThe one and only Boris Benedek mit FollowDai Aira Productions – TschecheiReal Rockers – Ä-Videoprojekt, Jürgen Lockinger, Sami & CoSiesta Films – 4D – Frode Sandbech Promovideo Productions – Snowbox, Lele De LafonteSpy Camera Films – The Airship, Ed Edwards Psykopit.com – French connectionMeuli – a young Swiss filmer16.00 Making of VividTime for the highlight of the day! Next to our commentator Muck Müller there was also Drew Stevenson in da house. He took on the mic straight away – being Drew – to get all the producers up on stage to thank them and ask some questions about their work. Also the public was invited to ask the producers about their different projects. After this little discussion Method Mag showed a Making of Vivid on our big screen, also a rookie special of a shoot straight after the European Open. The whole thing worked out fine, except our big screen – sorry for that!Music-update SaturdayBut not only in terms of snowboarding the booth was a summit. Some well known representants of the Munich music scene dropped by the snow summit stand to rape our turntables and mics. On Saturday we had Roger Reckless and Herr Minute at the turntables all day long. As a god damn highlight, they put on a sick turntable show with their buddy Bowdy of 4 zu 1. But not enough, straight afterwards they grabbed the mic and started to rap like maniacs! From that moment on, also Ragga-rocket Bugs couldn’t sit there and watch them, he had to be part of that freestyle session!

– magazines / photographersOn magazine day there were loads of cool panels around! A funny read was the history of Plaboard magazine, also MBM had a cool idea – on their panel they showed the process how to put together a magazine. Every panel was kind of different – Slammer was very ‘pure’, SBR went tabloid style and Snow had a big banner up, where everyone could sign or design. We were proud to have the Russian mag Dosky at the stand, as well as Renda with his 2b3 mag from Czech. The Dosky crew made us eat their caviar they brought, but fortunately they had some top notch Russian Wodka too – to sweap down the fish eggs…Also a whole load of different photographers were hanging out that day – Vincent Skoglund, Espen Lystad, Frode Sandbech, Gian Paul Lozza, Martin Nink, Basti Gogl, Fischi, Ricky Felderer, Roby Trab, Peter Mathis, Mike Mandl, Ludschi, Vianney Tissau, George Pirumov, Naisi Kudernatsch, Michi Berger, Alex Papis, Renda Rhones and many more.Who was involved that day?Pleasure, SnowboarderMBM, SBR, Onboard, Playboard, Dosky, 2b3, 7th Sky, Document Snow, Freeze, Snow, Onboard Italy, Source Business Mag, Snow Surf, Transition. We also invited loads of different other magazines to drop mags at the stand. So there were also mags like Transworld, Snowboarder, Adrenaline, Brett, Board… and many more to pick up at snow summit booth. People left the summit stand with their bags filled up with different magazines.16.00 – Auction of the legendary breast casts of Modart.Mona and their team made up loads of these casts, all designed by some sick, sick artists! We had like 30 pairs of breast casts displayed at our stand, on Sunday we started our auction – with some MC help of G (Delegates of Culture). G and Muck were commentating the auction, and at the end we could raise around 1.500 Euro for the breast cancer research. Thanx to our snowboard pros Tex Steinhart, Eric Themel and Alexeja Pozzoni – inspired by the artwork they grabbed some blank breast casts and started designing their own models. We also auctioned these 3 breast casts later on during ispo for Modart – thanx guys! But also the skaters got into it, and instead of breasts they took something more familiar – our wooden boxes. Martina Orso and his mate were painting away with some verbal help from our freestyle mcs. When everything meant to be shut down at night, the Ästhetikers started to design their panel for event day. It turned out to be a skate session, changing the booth into a skate obstacle. The security guys were stoked. Musik Update SundayAlso on Sunday Herr Minute and Roger Reckless were putting on different styles of music all day long – until the two members of Bumentopf – Roger and Schuh (best German MC – it just has to be said!) together with DJ Chrome hit the snow summit stand. Within minutes they changed the crowd into a party crowd. Both just dropped by to get into some freestyle action. So they did! They started freestyle rapping about ispo, the snowboard scene, the different stands around, about different brands and people hanging out at the stand – like the little English boy who finaly grabbed the mic himself to be part of the session – once again, G from the Delegates of Culture.

Monday, 3rd of Feb

– independent eventsMonday morning the snowboard community was kind of hangover. The days before it has been going off at 10 am, on Monday everybody took it easy until lunch time. But the guys from the Battle started early, they had to paint their panel and a few other parts of our stand, while Costi and Gian (SB Jam and Pipe to Pipe Arosa) had prepared big posters they just had to put up in the morning. Also European Open had a big banner up, with Wendy Woo giving out some punk style leather wrist bands for the hardcore fuckers. Around lunch time we could finaly wake up Gumby, who fell asleep on one of our couches – so now the Big Day Out was part of event day as well… Some event organizers brought some good video footage of their event, especially the EngadinSnow and Air&Style footage was pretty interesting, also some really good stuff about the European Open has been shown at the stand. Not to mention the Battle video from two seasons ago, which is still killer.Who was involved that day?Air&Style, Nescafé Championships Leysin, Arlberg Open Space, Gian Simmen’s Pipe to Pipe in Arosa, SB Jam Davos, Ästhetiker Tour, Burton European Open, Fabulous Tournament in La Flaine, EngadinSnow, Big Day Out, Family Sessions, Quiksilver Slopestyle Pro, Arctic Challenge, The Battle, Verbier Xtreme. Also on event day we invited all different kind of events to put their flyers and posters at the stand – which turned out to be a flyer frenzy. 16.00 Ticket To Ride press conferenceEveryone was looking forward to the Ticket To Ride press conference, hosted by Dave Mailman and Drew Stevenson. But before Dave Mailman called all the event organizers up on stage to give them the possibility to speak. There were people like Henning (Arctic Challenge), Marika Borg & Jacob Söderquist (Battle), Hannes and Andrew (Air&Style), Costi (SB Jam), Pete from Vans… Then Reto Lamm was talking about the TTR, explaining a lot about the system and structures, before Drew took over to his propaganda speech – which is an impressive one for sure. Thanx Drew! Another interesting detail: Steve Gruber himself grabbed the mic and spread some positives vibes – he is now one of the rider’s representatives for the TTR tour. Ticket To RideBut there was not only hanging with chilled music at the summit stand, nope, there was also some presentations of new and innovative ideas at the first board_ispo snow summit! The two big highlights were definitely the two press conferences held by the organizers of the Ticket to Ride (T.T.R.) Tour and the new Snowboard Association Germany (SVD).On Monday, February 3rd, 2003, everybody involved in the snowboard business met at the snow summit booth to listen to the T.T.R. Tour representing themselves. The tour was established last September in order to unite ten independent events to be a connected series of events, in which the riders could qualify for a big final – The Arctic Challenge organized by people like Terje Haakonsen. Special about the tour – the riders do not have to participate in every single event, but can qualify with only one “Ticket to Ride”. The tour consists of ten events and ends with the big final at The Arctic Challenge, April 7-13, 2003, in Lofoten, Norway. The organizers’ aim is it to only dedicate the tour to the riders and to let them develop the tour through their ideas and suggestions. The pros will not be forced to match any preconditions but have the opportunity to choose the event which is most fun for them. Dave Mailman (Quiksilver) and Drew Stevenson (Methodmag), who were leading the press conference, made it clear that the T.T.R. tour is going to develop itself steadily within the next few years and that it will be an alternative to the structures FIS is forcing their riders into when they want to qualify for the Olympic Games. Riders like Steve Gruber and Dani Costandaché welcomed and appreciated the tour’s concept.Events where you can grab a Ticket to Ride: X-Trail Jam (Tokio, Japan), Nokia Air&Style (Seefeld,), O’Neill SB-Jam (Davos, CH), Burton European Open (Livigno, Italy), Nescafé Championships Open Leysin (Leysin, CH), Vans Triple Crown of Snowboarding (Bear Mountain, Cal), Burton US Open (Stratton, Vermont), Quiksilver Slopestyle Pro (Les Arcs, France), The Battle (Falun, Sweden), The Arctic Challenge (Lofoten, Norway).Musik Update MondayOn Monday morning the boys from 4 zu 1 tried to chase away our hangovers with mellow beats, before the action program started once more – this time living legend DJ Stylewarz squeezed himself in between the 4 zu 1 crew to start another freestyle session. We honestly were proud to have this session going off at our booth! And even more stars dropped by later that day two heavy-funk-experts put on another excellent show: Wunder and Sepalot of Blumentopf! Highlight slide showIn cooperation with Modart we started a slide show at the Alte Chemie, right in the middle of Munich. Modart had a lot of artwork displayed at the Chemie, at the same time they showed different movies in the old lecture hall all day long – such as Dog Town & the Z-Boys. For our slide show we had invited five different photographers – Gian Paul Lozza (SUI), Frode Sandbech (NOR), Mike Mandl (AUT) and Martin Nink (GER) – to show a selection of their slides and tell some stories about their work at the same time. Unfortunately our French part Eric Bergeri dropped out two days before the show. But our four guys did a great job, especially Mike Mandl had some funny shots in his selection – his first snowboard shot ever as well as some really old style shots of people like Muck Müller. After the slide show we celebrated Mona’s birthday (organizer and owner of Modart). Her whole family was there to party, when G from the Delegates and some rasta hippie started dancing and freestyling for Mona.

– associationsAlso at the last ispo day there was something going on at the snow summit booth. We had invited some associations to present their work for the future, therefore SVD was holding a press conference. There was an interesting discussion with people like Martin Freinademetz, Xaver Hoffmann, Germut Bielitz, Tim Stade, Christian Heller and some more guests going on, also quite a few questions came out of the audience. Right after the press conference there was a little Vodka Ice meeting organized by the SVD – to discuss some more possibilities of cooperation. ASA was representing big time as well, with Lucky Rauscher, Martin Freinademetz, Tina Schlögl as well as ASA event dudes Thilo and Thommy Klähn.Who was involved that day?ASA – Austrian Snowboard AssociationGSA – German Snowboard AssociationSVD – Snowboard Verband DeutschlandSSBA – Swiss Snowboard Association16.00 press conference of SVDThe second press conference dealt exactly with the conditions the T.T.R. Tour wants to be an alternative to. But the Snowboard Accociation Germany (SVD) – founded only a month ago – wants to change a lot in cooperation with the German Snowboard Association (GSA).On Tuesday, February 4th, 2003, Germut Bielitz, Vice President (Finances) of SVD, and Managing Director Tim Stade presented the new federation. At a round table they talked with Christian Heller (Swiss Snowboard Association SSBA), Martin Freinademetz (Austrian Snowboad Association ASA) and SVD Teamrider Xaver Hoffmann about the new system in Germany. The new association was founded because the German Skiing Association (DSV) wanted to outsource snowboarding. This was the perfect opportunity to finally get rid of all indifferences there always were between FIS and ISF. The solution was that Alex Dörr, President of GSA, is now also Vice President of the SVD. This will guarantee good cooperation. The GSA will continue to exist as Germany’s biggest association and will extend their work to help the new association with the training of judges and the organization of events. If this system also works in Switzerland and Austria was doubted by the representatives of SSBA and ASA. Since its foundation in the 80s one association has worked pretty well in Switzerland and in Austria ASA is proud not to work in cooperation with FIS. The aim of all associations could only be to support upcoming riders as good as possible. In addition, SVD wants to organize more events and wants to communicate them to a broader public.Music update TuesdayThe last day we had some mellow tunes by Roger Reckless and Herr Minute aka. 4zu1 aka. The Intrudas. A big shout out and hightest respect to these boyz, because not only their skills are unbelievable, these two artists are also some of the nicest guys we met in the music industry so far!
